Ettan Original portion snus is another fine snus manufactured by the folks at Swedish Match in Gothenburg, Sweden. Ettan Original is classified as a regular portion snus meaning that each portion goes thru an additional step in the manufacturing process, which adds a bit of additional moisture to them, that helps the flavors meld together and bring out the flavor quicker once it’s in the lip. Each can of Ettan Original portion has 24, one gram portions with each having 8 mg of Nicotine. The portion material that Swedish Match uses for Ettan Original is the same soft material that they use in all their portion snus and is comfortable in the lip for over 2 hours. Ettan original’s can is made of a Gold colored plastic with a paper label that seals the lid to the bottom until you open it and yes, there is a used portion compartment in the lid! Now that you know the basics, let’s get into the flavor!
Ettan is one of Sweden’s oldest snus brands with a flavor that’s basically been unchanged since 1822. Ettan Original portion was introduced in 1990 and carries on the flavor tradition with a basic recipe of Tobacco, water and salt. The only addition to the original recipe is a smoky flavor! This smoky flavoring, along with the flavors of high grade tobaccos from around the world and salt, creates a one of a kind flavor that combines the peaty, leathery flavor of the tobacco with the slight smoky flavor to create hints of dark, bitter chocolate in the lip as well as in the nose! Actually, when you first open a can of Ettan Original, the scent you get is of a dark, European chocolate as opposed to the rich tobacco that is the first flavor you taste when in the lip but, this is what we taste. I belive ettan if perfect for someone who wants to start snus for quitting smoking, is still a pretty good kind of snus, it does have a smooth and somehow a mild flavour but strong at the same time. i raccomend to try this one can at least one time.

If you have just quit smoking, I highly recommend having a can of this on you at all times. The no-frills smoked tobacco flavor is absolutely ideal when you're in a social smoking situation, or just crave smoke rather than nicotine alone. Also goes extremely well with most dark ales. Plus even at the one-can price, it's still a very good value.

Like btrip,I love the straight tobacco flavors such as Skruf and Grov too. Full flavor and one of my first enjoyable snus varieties I discovered. One I tend to return to as a staple. Not over powering, no peppery taste like General just a nice smooth tobacco. Found best to use for around 30 minutes or so, after that tends to lose flavor.

Very plain flavor. Not too salty, just tobacco. Not a bad thing if you want a good snus to drink with, something that wont mingle with the drinks flavor, but for any other occasion it's pretty uninteresting. The hit was slow and smooth and stuck around for a little while for me, nothing to write home about though.
If anything with this snus you get a flavor that you won't dislike.

Steady "middle of the road" kinda snus. Portions seem smaller and the snus , to me, leaves a chocolate aftertaste. Give it a 3.

This is a great intro snus. Its mellow tobacco flavor and mild saltiness make it great for getting used to snus. It was one of my initial favorites until I started wanting bolder flavors out of my snus.

Well, that's pretty much it. No frills, just smooth tobacco. That's a good thing. I, too, wish it lasted longer. This is the first snus I used over half a can of before curiousity forced me to the next can. Highly recommended. Can fairly plain, 2/5, flavor... not much flavor. Liked it anyway, so 4.5/5, good stuff. If you find other snus too strong in the flavor department, and want something unobtrusive to continuous usage, this is the one for you.

I was disappointed with Ettan after hearing all kinds of hype. I couldn't finish my first tin but while on the second I came to like it a bit more. Still nothing I buy on a regualr basis.
The taste is pure tobacco with nutty overtones. I don't care for the nutty flavor and prefer Grov, for my pure tobacco flavored snus. So for me this snus gets 3/5 stars, not great not terrible, just there.

Not great but not bad either - Certainly a solid middle of the road contender.
Prefer the los to the portion.

This snus is very mildly flavored. It has a marked nutty aftertaste that sets in after 10 minutes. And it isn't too salty, if that turns you off. Unfortunately, the nic hit is rather slow also. I would suggest this in anyone's first order, because its a good introduction to the subtleties that make a snus pleasant.

I find this to be a good early morning Snus.
Nothing overpowering, clean, smooth, tobacco taste.
If you chain Snus make sure you start with this one as any other Snus taste in your mouth will drown the flavor of this one out.

Rich, nice and pure tobacco flavor. It runs a bit more than the white portion, but it tastes terrific, so give me the juicier one any day. It reminds me a cuban seed tobacco cigars like a Hoyo de Monterrey Excaliber. This is definitely one of the best.

one of my favorite snus so far very easy to chain snus, i found that this is one i will be ordering rolls of. has a very good earthy, roasted tobacco taste. highly recommend

Seems to me like Ettan is a great midday, smooth it all out kind of snus. The flavor is very straightforward, no real suprises, but makes for a nice dip to clear out the palate between more suprising snus. This can makes a nice addition to the fridge.

i love ettan as so many have said before its subtle the flavours are simple and not over the top i go for the general, granits and knox flavours of the world but sometimes you may want to freshen the palette or feel like a contrast and ettan does just that
to me it has a suble almost nutty roasted taste to it not harsh but not sweet either

I like the taste of it, has kinda thick run off of it in my opinion but overall is pretty good and it certainly has a unique taste to it... I would buy it again...

This is a good, simple, no-nonsense portion snus. The flavor is almost too subtle and doesn't last as long as id like. Not as good as its loose counterpart in my opinion.

This is honestly the snus I use the most. It has a nice, mellow tobacco flavor that maintains for about twenty to thirty minutes and I haven't lost my taste for it. The image and the flavor are both completly classic as well as so reminiscent of the Camel Lights that I no longer smoke.

Definitely not my favorite. Has a strange taste to it that is similar to... latex? It seems very popular though. I really did not care for it, and I love the straight tobacco flavors such as Skruf and Grov.

Great full and mellow tobacco flavor right up front with a roundness and character that was instantly flavorful. Found that the flavor lasted a bit less than some other brands, but nevertheless loved the Ettan character. Like a well rounded rich cigar flavor.
