Best snus I ever tried. And I've tried them all Good taste cost some money.. what to do..

After trying 7 different snus varieties I have decided Onyx is by far my favorite so far. The taste is great, not too salty, the kick is strong enough, and the packaging says "premium" and the portions are comfortable. But I have yet to try "Claq Que" will be arriving in my next order.

My favorite General snus. Aesthetically great, the can and little spiral, but that really doesn't matter much. The bag has the softest texture in a snus portion I have ever felt. I had a problem with some bags feeling too rough but never with this brand. The taste itself is fantastic, I noticed a lemon-pepper style taste with it. The nicotine isn't as much as most stark portions but it is still good. Fantastic snus.

Not bad by a longshot. Attractive can. Easy to fit. Very nice blend of lemon citrus and pepper. I try to have a can around the house.

I am trying to quit smoking and decided to try Swedish snus after viewing the videos from Svandal(Confessions of a former smoker, quite smoking with snus 1-4) on YouTube. I tried the readily available USA version(Camel Frost snus) and although I liked the taste alot it didn't have the nicotine kick I wanted/needed. So I tried a few different varieties from Northerner. General Onyx was one of them. Coolest packaging out there and the familiar fan pattern is back and the bags are black. The sides of the can need to be changed to reflect the coolness of the rest of the packaging. The black on black swirls don't stand out enough and announce this is a premium snus. VERY strong but also VERY smooth. Again, not a salty, peppery snus fan but this stuff is very tolerable and it just has that cool factor going for it. REALLY wish it was in a Wintergreen or Spearmint flavor. If it was that's all I would buy I'm sure!

It tastes very similar to the regular General Portions with a stronger drip and nicotine kick. Too much nicotine (if you can believe that) for my daily uses but a good snus for a night out drinking. For me, this is like a premium cigar that you break out on special occassions.

One of the classiest. Complaints that it starts to run too fast aren't a problem, for me it holds up the same as others. Onyx has it's own onyx taste. It's good.

Great snus with a strong flavor and nicotine kick to it. The only two drawbacks for me for this portion was that it wore on my gums pretty quickly and it started to drip faster that most other portions. Other than that the flavor is great and it is well worth the price paid. The kick to it comes very fast also. The packaging and how they portions are presented are very classy looking. 4 out of 5 stars.

Probably my favorite snus. Great, consistent flavor. The star-arrangement keeps the packets looking classy. I find these portions will last me a long, long time before they lose flavor or start tasting off. I always throw a can or two into my orders.

This was the first snus I tried. With so much raving about it, I thought I'd go for the gusto and get straight to the primo stuff. That was a mistake as this is a pretty seriously salty, spicy snus. It was not initially one of my favorites. I kept returning to it though as I like the 11mg nicotine content as an "in between" when I feel the higher nicotine starks would be too much, but want more than a normal 8.
I found that wetting the portion pretty well before putting it under my lip mellowed the intense saltiness a bit, and made it more comfortable. Even so, this portion still wears out my lip more than any other portion. It took some time, and about half a can before I really started to appreciate the other flavors under the initial salt & pepper rush.
This really is an excellent snus, but do yourself a favor and get to where you enjoy and truly appreciate the subtle flavors of snus before you hit yourself with it, then you'll be more likely to get the full Onyx experience.

Don't hate me for what I'm about to say but but if I had to choose I'd pick the original portion General over this. Yes, more of the Nic hit from this, but the General taste seems toned down.
Maybe this is for the more refined tastes and I just want my flavors more upfront.
It sure looks pretty though.

This snus is a close second favorite of mine. It has a great citrus and pepper taste and the portions are perfect. I wish all portions were formed like the onyx portions. If your thinking of buying this do yourself a favor and just do it. The can is also very nice.

The portion material is what sets this apart initially as it is silky smooth. Then you get into the flavor that is a great blend of the bergamot and lemon with the tobacco that doesn't let you down at any point. Combine all that with the increased nicotine and you have one of the best Snus out there. The fact that they star shaped the portions in the tin shows you how much care they put into this one.

General Onyx is very impressive. The packaging is very pretty and understated: black on black leaf decoration around the sides, with a silver ashtray lid. Once you open the container, the portions are striking. They are black and arranged in a uniform fan formation. The portions are strong and long-lasting, and with a nice citrus flavor, only more subtle than original General. The only drawback is the price. For that reason, I wouldn't say this is an everyday snus. If you like it enough to have it every day, I'd recommend General Sterk, which has the same strengh, similar flavor, and the same fan formation of the portions.

Very strong. Strong flavor, strong nic hit, and jeez, these portions are made of what? carbon fiber? Tears my gums up, but its the best flavor. Even the scent is far better than any snus.

First, the black portions are by far the softest ones that Swedish Match makes, although not quite as comfy as the Skruf White portions for me. It drips a little more than some, but I don't mind. The flavor is kind of like General, but with some extra citrus flavors and less of the peppery flavor. The tobacco taste is also more pronounced and it has a decent nicotine kick. Gotta love that snazzy can as well. Overall, it's a nice pick, but pricey.

Super good. Can't do it all the time because of the unique taste and the fact that it pickles my lip, but it really is awesome.

A very good strong snus. The flavour is strong but the hint of citrus lightens it up a bit. Right now it is the snus I use when I want a change from my usual brand (Claq Qui at the present time).

My Swedish friend introduced me to snus at University. I've been a snus-er ever since and wouldn't dream of using cigarettes.
When I discovered Onyx, it was almost like the feeling you got when you first discovered premium beer!! The flavour, design, 'hit' is second to none.
I'd say it's worth the extra few pennies...especially from Northerner.com!! The prices here even once you add EU tax and shipping is far better than any other snus-selling site I know that offers the good brands.
People at work don't understand, but whilst I can snus in the pub whilst I'm having a drink in the nice warm lounge...they are outside freezing puffing on their little smoke-sticks.
I'd encourage the UK to start selling snus (if it wasn't banned), but they'd only increase the tax to ridiculous levels.
I've just ordered another 50 boxes.

The best tasting snus for me. The taste last longer than other snus just like Matthew says.
The only downside with Onyx is that I can't use a whole roll without using other snus.
After about 3 cans I can really feel that the bag Onyx is using is damaging my gum.
For those of you that think Onyx is pricey I can say that since you'll have this snus in much longer than others the can will last longer (except when you go to the pub and will put in a new snus after half a pint no matter if it still has taste left or not).
In all a great snus if you have another brand to change with every now and then.
Giving 4 stars because of the damage done to the gum

Well, there's a lot of reviews for this one already, but I'm sure I can find something to add.
Onyx is the "premium" snus in the General family; everything about it is designed to give you an impression of quality, even down to the price.
The can is pretty cool. All black - with a black-on-black pattern round the edge - with shiny a faux metal ashtray lid. Inside, the black theme continues; the portions themselves are black. They're also formed into a wedge shape - in order for them to fit better under the lip. They're arranged in a star formation in the can, when full - which is a nice touch.
Onyx is a strong snus, but don't let that put you off. I don't like strong snuses much, but I've never had any problems with this, The flavour is recognisably General but with much stronger citrus and peppery notes to it. It's quite different, but pretty well balanced. The odd thing is; I love the flavour at the start of a can, but it sometimes gets a little too much by the end of it.
It's difficult to give Onyx a summary. I like to get a can now and then, because the of the whole experience. It's great for an occasional snus, but I think it's lose something if I used it a lot.
As an aside, you may want to look at General Sterk - it's got a similar astray lid, the same wedge-shaped (although white) portions and pretty star formation, and it's the same strength. The flavour is more like normal General, but some may see that as a bonus. And, General Sterk comes without the premium price!

Also my favorite now! Has a long-lasting, bold tobacco flavor with some citrus. Each portion seems to be packed perfectly in the pouch and fits great under the lip without having to re-adjust it. A+ snus.

Ive tried many different kinds of Snus, after trying Onyx, ive NEVER went back...used some of my bonus points last time and got a free tin of general portion...yuck, compared to Onyx? man, i cant go back, im totally hooked...and i used to love regular General.

Pricey, but great presentation. I use the empty Onyx tins to keep coins in, they're so fancy. I get this every now and again, but price makes me go with other Stark snuses quite often. Onyx is the cadillac of Stark snus, for the discerning customer. Great flavor.

Truly is the best snus ever made. Not a wet mess, slow to develop flavor, and a good solid tobacco flavor with a light bergamot underpinning that fades. Good for 20-60 minutes. I use two at a time, for symmetry.

This is my favorite, hands down. Each dark, flavorful portion is almost the exact same size and displayed in an impressive spiral when one opens the can rather than strewn about. The portions are thin and fit effortlessly under one’s lip. The only downside is the price; however, I’ll keep an Onyx portion in for a good 90 minutes whereas with cheaper snus I toss it after 20 minutes or so. Two thumbs up- three if I had a third
