Rob's Verdict

Launched in 2006 and made by Swedish Match in Gothenburg, Sweden, Göteborgs Rapé No. 2 is classified as a White portion snus which means that the portions do not go thru the final step in the manufacturing process that adds a bit more moisture to the material. While this leaves the portion material dry, Swedish Match uses the same soft material they use in all their snus and is comfortable in the lip for about two hours. Each can of Göteborgs Rapé No. 2 contains 24, one gram portions with 8 mg of Nicotine each. The can is made of gold colored plastic with a used portion compartment in the lid and the Swedish snus coat of arms embossed in the compartment’s cap but, enough about the can, let’s talk flavor!

The flavor in Göteborgs Rapé No. 2 is a fine blend of tobaccos that are handpicked from around the world, salt and Lingonberries. Now, we understand that most Americans really don’t know what Lingonberries taste like so, the closest flavor we can compare them to are lightly sweetened Cranberries. The tobacco gives the snus an earthy base flavor and a slight peppery taste while the Lingonberry flavor adds a subtle sweetness that blends well with the peppery taste. The hint of salt brings both flavors together to create a unique taste in Göteborgs Rapé No. 2 that we think is great for the new snus user looking for a snus that has a bit of sweetness while still maintaining the taste that Swedish snus is known for but, we’ll let you decide.

So, why not add a can or two of Göteborgs Rapé No. 2 White portion snus and let us know what you think by adding a review of your own. We look forward to reading it!

I'll definitely be ordering logs of this in the future. This is by far my favorite berry flavored snus. After being disappointed by Skurf Cranberry I gave this one a go and fell in love with it. If I'm not looking for a heavy nicotine hit, and want something flavorful, I always go to Rape No.2.

Love this product! Like many other American snusers, I started on Camel frost & mellow.... i thought I liked those strong sweet flavors, so I ordered the brands that were described as being "fruity". I was initially very disappointed, because the fruit flavors were SO subtle. However, after working my way into the various cans I ordered, I am LOVING THEM! I tried the Camel stuff again, and find it disgustingly sweet, with not enough tobacco flavor or nicotine kick! For other beginners, the "original" portion (not white) products like Jakobson's Ice fruit have a nice kick, tobacco flavor, and "hint" of fruitiness (which is what I discovered I really wanted all along, not a strong fruitiness). Some of the whites: Roda Lacket, Goteborg's Rape #2, are also very nice, a little milder in flavor. I also love Gotland Green! The ONLY products I'm disappointed by are the flavored Offroads and Thunders... they just don't taste natural enough. As a quitting smoker, I'm finding i need more nicotine, so I have a shipment of various "strongs" on the way...But-- Roda Lacket, Goteborgs Rape #2, Jakobson's Ice Fruit, and Gotland Green will always be in my orders, and will always be around me: they are all so good that I couldn't imagine not being able to grab one at any time during the day.

I wasn't expecting to like this much as I don't like sweets, and typically associate berry with sweetness. However, this has nice light natural berry flavor without a heavy sugary sweetness. The berry flavor slowly fades to the taste of the original Goteborg. This is in my regular rotation, along with General White for my salt fix, and Ettan White for the natural tobacco flavor. One for every craving!

I was very impressed with the flavor of this snus. It's a little bit sweeter than the original Goteborgs Rape, but the sweet and tart taste of linbonberry fades before the clean, herbal juniper flavor. They last a good while and are not as salty as most other snus. Additionally, the portions seem especially soft and-- maybe it's just my imagination-- a little smaller than most other Swedish Match snus. The nicotine kick is exactly like the original: the standard 8mg that might not satisfy someone who is/was a heavy smoker. Still, I think a lot of Americans who are used to sugary oral tobacco products would find this more accessible than the traditional, savory Swedish snus, like General or Skruf.

I am pretty new to snus I started with snus to quit smoking. within the past month I have tried MANY different brands and I have to say that this snus is great. It's not as salty as others, and the berry flavor is just right. It goes great with my mountain dew and laptop. I would recommend this for any snusser. Especially newer snussers that want something a little milder. Excellent snus!!

Delicious snus that I almost threw out. At first I hated this snus , but I made myself continue using it and portion by portion it won me over, when one day i noticed the subtle sweet flavor that reminded me very much of pipe tobacco and I have loved it ever since stiil not an everyday snus , but Perfect when I'm in the mood for something different

You cant go wrong with #2. I always have a can of it open to break up the day. I don't know if I could use it all day everyday without starting to grow tired of it. One of the first sweedish snus that I tried and I fell in love. Great berry flavor and not overpowering. 4.5 stars
- SSgtTrav, 03/26/2009 06:59:44

This is like a fine desert snus and yet and wonderful everyday snus as well. The combination of herbs with the great berry flavors that come through make you wonder how they combined it so well. This is one of my favorites for the initial burst of Juniper with the berry flavors following. If you like a good sweet snus but one that has a natural sweetness to it, this is the one for you.
- stindell, 03/24/2009 03:53:44

This one is a bit more powerful than the original, but I love that tart lingonberry and herb flavor. This was on of the earlier snus that I've tried and I still love it to this day.
- sychodelix, 03/22/2009 06:27:48

I used snus to quit smoking and found these delightful. The Portion is incredibly soft and doesn't hurt your gums in any way. The fine grind tobacco adheres perfectly to your upper gum and after a few minutes becomes incredibly soft and pleasurable. I keep a tin of these around at all times, though I usually stick to Ettan for my daily go-to snus. The sweet taste is just a mild enough to not be overwhelming. If your looking for a snus that offers something different and completley unique, Goterborgs Number 2 is for you. Great Snus. A
- theray1, 03/19/2009 18:37:46

A great snus with a great flavour of lingon.
- Tyskandy, 03/19/2009 17:20:11

This is a good snus but not as good as the regular rape'. Has a mild lingdon berry flavor but not as much bergamot as the original. I would say it is the best sweet flavored snus I have tasted. If you don't like Earl Grey tea you won't like either this one or the original.
- Ekampz, 03/18/2009 20:10:29

No. 2, like the original, has a distinctive flavour that did not suit my tastes. I got them both in a tryout box and will probably never try another tin of either. It has a very strong juniper berry (presumably) flavour, so if that is something you think you'd like in a snus, you'll probably love these.
- kpritchie, 03/18/2009 06:03:59

Göteborgs Rapé No2 along with Röda Lacket was one of the first snuses i ever bought i loved the stuff i could'nt get enough of it when i first moved over to snus the generals etc can be abit harsh and salty and could almost put you off snus for life. but trying these is like putting bubblegum in your mouth its tasty and bursting with complex flavours id gone through three cans of these before i had finished 1 can of general its a great first time snus that can help no end if your moving over from the dreaded cigarettes to snus of the few people i have tried to convert to snus i have always recommended starting with Göteborgs and Röda Lacket its just so darn tasty
- filmfreak, 03/17/2009 01:53:13

Göteborgs Rapé No2 gets some rave reviews from many people. It's meant to be like the standard Göteborgs Rapé, but with the added dimension of lingonberry. Now, I don't like the original Göteborgs Rapé, but I do love lingonberry, so I thought it's got to be worth a pop - especially since many people have told me that it's different enough from the original for one to love one while hating the other. So I picked some up. It's in a standard Swedish Match can with ashtray lid, and has the same metallic blue label as the original - which, incidentally, I also don't care for much - but with a red "No2 Lingon" band. The portions themselves are standard white portions. How about the flavour then? Is there enough different about it to make me love it? Well. No. I'm afraid. Although, it is better. The lingonberry flavour is nice, but the original Göteborgs flavour is still there, and - to me at least - soon becomes predominant. If you like the original, definitely give this a go. If you like lingonberry, you never know. But I wouldn't say it's all it's cracked up to be...

Absolutely delicious. Taste wise, one of the best snus Ive ever tried.
- Lb3ll, 02/16/2009 19:45:12

I used snus to quit smoking and thus usually stick to the strong portion; my favorite is General Onyx. However, Goteborgs Rape No.2 is simply so delectable that I always keep a roll around. The smell, the taste, even the texture and aesthetics of the portions…. I’ve got one in right now
