LD Portion Snus Test & Review

With its regal looking black can and unique, hinged lid, on its used portion compartment, LD Original portion snus is a regular type portion snus made by JTI Sweden AB. If you’ve read our other reviews, you’ll remember that regular type portions go thru the additional step at the end of the manufacturing process that adds a bit more moisture to the material that aids the flavors in the snus to marry together and release its flavor faster when it’s in the lip. The portion material that JTI uses in LD Original is the same soft material they use in all their snus and is pretty comfortable in the lip for around 2 hours. Each can of LD Original contains 24, one gram portions with each one having 8 mg of Nicotine. Now that you know the basics about LD Original, let’s take a look at the flavor.

JTI describes LD Original as having a pure and rather mild tobacco flavor with hints of bergamot. What we taste is mild flavored tobacco along with bergamot as well but the strength of the flavors were pretty light. What we mean by light is that the flavor is not as intense as you would expect a regular or original type portion to be. The strength of them could be more closely related to what it would be in a White portion. This is not necessarily a bad thing though. The flavors in LD Original are still of high quality tobaccos and bergamot, which has a flavor that’s a cross between a lemon and a grapefruit, with a hint of salt they’re just not as strong as you would think they would be. We think LD Original would be a great portion snus for beginners that want to start tasting what regular portions are or, long time snus users looking for a lighter tasting snus but, we’ll leave that decision up to you!
