What We Have To Say

Launched in 2006, Röda Lacket portion snus is another White portion snus manufactured by the folks at Swedish Match, makers of the General brand of snus, among others! Röda Lacket is classified as a White type portion meaning that it does not go thru the additional step to add moisture prior to being packaged. Even though Röda Lacket has a bit less moisture than a regular type portion, the kind of portion material that Swedish Match uses to make it is soft and quite comfortable under the lip. Even after 2 hours of use, there is virtually no discomfort! Each can of Röda Lacket portion has 24, one gram portions and each portion contains 8 mg of Nicotine.

Röda Lacket portion’s can is made of plastic and has the used portion compartment in the lid but the label, its history actually, is the unique thing! When Röda Lacket was introduced in 2006, Swedish Match released it with 21 different top labels! Although they don’t do that anymore, the final can edition, released in 2008, has a plasticized, multi-colored label around the side of the can that provides a good seal and the label on the lid matches the one around the can side. Ok, enough about the can. On to the flavor!

Röda Lacket’s flavor is actually pretty complex. While Swedish match has described its flavor to be of light tobacco and a hint of licorice. While there is a light tobacco flavor, the licorice flavor is what makes it complex! Some have tasted a slightly sweet licorice flavor; others have tasted lightly sweet, red berries like Strawberries. In either case, these flavors along with the slight saltiness are what give Röda Lacket White Portion snus its complexity. That and the fact that the flavor of a portion lasts for over an hour and a half!

So why not give a can of Röda Lacket White portion a try and see what flavors you can detect! Be sure to leave us a review of your own and let us know what you taste, we’ll be looking forward to reading it!

Love this product. RL has a great smell, is very easy on the gums, and has a great unique flavor. The smell is like good pipe tobacco. Like many other American snusers, I started on Camel frost & mellow.... i thought I liked those strong sweet flavors, so I ordered the brands that were described as being "fruity". I was initially very disappointed, because the fruit flavors were SO subtle. However, after working my way into the various cans I ordered, I am LOVING THEM! I tried the Camel stuff again, and find it disgustingly sweet, with not enough tobacco flavor or nicotine kick! For other beginners, the "original" portion (not white) products like Jakobson's Ice fruit have a nice kick, tobacco flavor, and "hint" of fruitiness (which is what I discovered I really wanted all along, not a strong fruitiness). Some of the whites: Roda Lacket, Goteborg's Rape #2, are also very nice, a little milder in flavor. I also love Gotland Green! The ONLY products I'm disappointed by are the flavored Offroads and Thunders... they just don't taste natural enough. As a quitting smoker, I'm finding i need more nicotine, so I have a shipment of various "strongs" on the way...But-- Roda Lacket, Goteborgs Rape #2, Jakobson's Ice Fruit, and Gotland Green will always be in my orders, and will always be around me: they are all so good that I couldn't imagine not being able to grab one at any time during the day.

I ordered this stuff with high hopes but I'm kinda let down by the flavor. It's not terrible but I really expected more taste. I can't keep it in very long before I'm sick of it. I'll finish the tin but probably won't order it again...

I like to keep a roll of Claq Qui in my refrigerator, so I'm definitely all about the flavor. But even after trying Claq Qui first, I will still be ordering Roda. Because sometimes, I just want to snus for the flavor, not the nicotine hit. Plus it's less salty, making it better for my morning coffee.

I've only tried it once and I can already tell you this is one I'll be keeping around. A can may last me a lot longer than General Portion or Catch Ecalyptus White Portion, but it's still an excellent snus. Upon first popping a portion of this into my mouth after lunch, I immediately noticed the sweet and fruity undertones that compliment, rather than overpower, the tobacco. The salt is there but is tame, and the nicotine hits in a slow but steady stream. The only reason I rated a 4 rather than 5 is simply my preference for strong flavored snus. If you're looking for somehting that will give you a good nicotine buzz but won't make you sick with overbearing sweetness, this is the snus for you. A good, easy going snus that won't fail me anytime in the future, but for me not something I'll use can after can of. Again, that's only because of my preference for strong flavors. Swedish Match has achieved an excellent, near perfect mellow balance in this snus, though, and I will certainly be buying again.

Great snus. Has it's own unique flavor, not too salty or spicy, with a slight sweetness, and is milder than the strong portion that makes it good for a daily user snus.

Roda Lacket was my first favorite. Seems to be a great beginner snus, though with a very unique flavor its appeal lasts longer than some of the other ones I consider good "introductory" snus. Despite the flavor being totally unique, it is one that pairs well with a wide variety of drinks. I have one every morning with a plain latte, and also find it delicious with a variety of teas. I'd recommend everyone try at least one can of this.
- Gink, 04/10/2009 21:39:05

Roda locket Is an excellent snus , not in my top favs , I like more of a pure tobacco taste but the perfect balance of dried fruit and tobacco in this makes for one tasty nicotine dose!!
- elespectrol, 04/08/2009 01:46:44

What can one say about Roda Lacket that hasn't already been said. Its a standard Swedish Match white portion with a flavor that is solely unique. No other snus comes close to the fruity flavor of Roda. If your looking for something mild, and semi sweet with a fruity overtone, you have found your snus. It's almost impossible to not like this, but since the flavor is so mild, you may get bored quickly. Nevertheless, A.

This is a great snus just like it's big brother Claq qui which is my favorite. This is the perfect blending of flavors for tobacco if you ask me. They are great from start to finish. They also pair well with beer but I prefer the claq qui when I drink due to it being stronger. One of my regulars. 5 stars
- SSgtTrav, 03/26/2009 06:54:08

This has a definite fruit flavor but not overpowering. It comes across more as dried fruits like figs or raisins or dates. Although you can taste the tobacco as well, it is very mild and so this is an easier snus to start with.
- stindell, 03/24/2009 03:50:25

This snus has the perfect blend of fruity (like figs or dates) and a very slight licorice flavor. I don't like anise/licorice, but this is an exception because it doesn't overpower you like most do. This is one of the "go to" snus for me along with it's big bully best friend, Claq Qui. Get some, now!
- sychodelix, 03/22/2009 06:30:47

Very good. Definitely sweeter than something like Ettan or Grov, but I don't tire of it as quickly as I would a Goteborg.
- krtownsend71, 03/20/2009 17:02:02

A very unique flavor. Definitely taste the tobacco but there is a hint of berry and even what I deciphered to be a taste of olives. Nice but a tad too powerful (taste-wise) for me.
- dworthington, 03/17/2009 04:29:37

i like Röda Lacket its one of first snuses that i ever tried and like many other people my tastes have moved on since then to stronger flavors admittedly some of the first snuse's i tried i went off almost by the end of the can and have never gone back to but Röda Lacket however is one of the exeptions even now i like to keep a can handy, while i can't use it every day i look forward to popping a portion in every once in awhile its the taste its so unique. its like no other snus on the market today, sometimes your palette gets alittle jaded from using that main stay snus everyday and you need alittle something different to freshen your lip up and Röda Lacket can easily do that
- filmfreak, 03/17/2009 01:40:16

An ok snus. The flavor is nice anf fruity, just like the description. The flavor however doesn't seem to last as long as others.
- drmgiver, 03/14/2009 17:08:47

There's something a bit different about Röda Lacket. On the face of it, it's pretty normal. It comes in a can just like any other snus; black plastic with an ashtray lid. The portions, physically, are just like any other Swedish Match white portion. But the brightly-coloured cans are instantly recognisable as out-of-the ordinary, and the snus itself has a flavour unlike any other. Röda Lacket was my first favorite snus - the first I ever bought in rolls - and, although I've become more of a Grovsnus man these days, I still make sure I've got at least one can of Röde in the fridge. The reason it appealed to me so much came down to the unique taste. It's a mild flavour. And sweet, but not in a bad, sickly way, but wrapped in an element of dried fruits and licorice. I've never met anyone who doesn't love it; although some get tired of it after a while. The only bad thing I have to say about Röda is the can design. While I don't hate the current design, the cans used to come in a regularly changing range of designs, all based on the black and red colour scheme identified with the snus. You never knew what design you'd get next, and I liked that.
